After lunch, we’ll travel toward Parapat, passing through the bustling town of Pematang Siantar, famous for its lush rubber and palm oil plantations. Along the way, we’ll make a brief stop at Toko Paten, a well-known shop where you can sample and purchase traditional snacks like teng-teng and ting-ting — unique peanut-based sweets beloved by locals and tourists alike.
Upon arrival in Parapat, you’ll check into your hotel and have some time to rest. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a lakeside restaurant while taking in the breathtaking views of Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world. After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head to Ajibata Port for a scenic boat ride to Samosir Island, located in the heart of Lake Toba. On this cultural excursion, we’ll visit Tomok Village, home to the ancient tombs of King Sidabutar, the Batak Museum, and other historical relics. You’ll also have the chance to witness the famous Sigale-gale puppet dance (optional, personal expense), a traditional Batak performance, and browse the vibrant local market for souvenirs.
We then return to Parapat for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our journey toward Berastagi, a charming highland town.
